My Sister's Keeper

Have heard that the books by Jodi Picoult are good and have been meaning to read them but cldn't seem to find them in the library. Finally decided to reserve for the books online and surprisingly, there was no "queue" for it, unlike the previous time when I borrowed David Edding's new series; guess they do have the books, juz not @ the branches where I go to. (BTW, have any of u been to the Central Library? They categorise part of the books by the type of books e.g. Romance, Thriller, Sci-Fi etc i dun like it!!! Still prefer the conventional way of categorising by author's name).

Collected my 3 books about a week later; Mercy, Vanishing Acts and of coz My Sister's Keeper. I am glad I kept My Sister's Keeper for last coz it has gotta be 1 of the best books I have ever read! Mercy was okay and I thot Vanishing Acts was a little dull but nonetheless, all of the storylines are still good. :) My Sister's Keeper is a story about a gal who sues her parents for "abusing" her body; she was genetically born so as to use her cells to save her sister from a very rare form of leukemia. But as the sister kept on getting relapses, she had to give her palettes to her sister so everytime her sister was in hospital, she was too, only that she was actually a healthy gal.

Almost cried when I read till the end of the book and also evoked a lot of emotions and thots in me; how much can a parent love their children? What is just sufficient and when does it cross the border to "too much"? I'm sure the love that a parent has for any kid is boundless and most importantly, every parent would want the best for their child. However, I felt that the parents shouldn't have neglected their other child despite the fact that 1 of their children is v ill. I guess for children, some things they may not mention, but it sticks with them for a long time to come and it is their childhood that moulds them into the people they will be in future.

I think of my Mum and her love for me and not only did she just care about the family, she also cared about the other people around her. I often wonder how she can do that and still has so much to give. For those of u looking for a good book to read, this is definitely a gd recommendation... I am definitely goin to buy the book for keeps!
