Simply Awesome!

My first post of 2008 and it's gona be abt 1 of the memories I know I will look back v fondly upon...











Guess whr Dar & I were?
Yep yep... the Jacky Cheung World Tour 2007 Encore!!! & what can I say cept that it was really awesome!!! I didn't go (& didn't thnk abt going) for the one last year but was full of regrets when everyone told me how good it was & thus I was definitely not going to miss it this time round. Intially Dar didn't really wana go coz as much he liked Jacky too, he preferred his Canto oldies to the chinese songs... so decided to "kill 2 birds w 1 stone" by giving him a ticket as Christmas prez. :) It was definitely a prez he "enjoyed" as well. =))

Jacky Cheung definitely evoked a lot of memories in me; when his 吻别 album came out in 1993, my whole class was crazy over him, so much so that even the teachers knew abt it! We got his albums, sang his songs @ karaoke, bought those idol cards of him, read up on news of him... & with a couple of friends, we attended his concert here some 13-14 years ago! (incidentally Dar also went but he can't rem which nite). I rem we went on the first nite and we were all v excited & we even bought s stuffed dino for him; I still haf e pic but no scanner to scan it in hee. He was having a sore throat that nite but still did his best to sing but half way thru, he decided to postpone the concert as he wanted to give his best performance. We left the stadium & I dunno how it happened but my fren's father who came to pick her up actually sent the whole lot of us to the hotel that Jacky was staying in!!! We didn't manage to see Jacky & his assistant told us that Jacky was resting but nonetheless, he gave us an autographed pic of Jacky each. Of course we were over the moon by then & of course I still have the treasured pic.


It was Jacky's 92nd performance since his start of the tour in Feb 2007 but still he gave nothing but his best. U cld tell he really enjoyed singing & he kept thanking everyone for their support & thus giving him the stature that he has now. He was so true as a person, telling us about his life & how life had its ups and downs and how “不快乐的事情过去后，快乐的事就要来" which touched a chord in me coz I was reminded of a v diff period in my own life. (He also mentioned that his Dad passed away before his world tour started in Feb last year & thus it was w a mixed feeling that he started his World Tour) His clothes weren't as fancy as those 13-14 years back but the performance was dear to me; perhaps coz I m now older & not a young fan; perhaps coz I had Dar next to me whilst he sang his love songs & I feel blessed to be loved by Dar; but most of all, I thnk it is coz I can now look back on those sec sch days, smile & be reminded of the frenships forged esp w my dear fren, Sis Aneja who even wrote me a story loosely based on Jacky's 她来听我的演唱会 n I was a bit disappointed that he didn't sing this song last nite. But he sang my all time fave 每天爱你多一些 which Dar also liked & he sang it in Canto!!! Almost swooned when he sang it and I was clapping my hands in delight when he announced. He also sang Dar's fave Canto song 月半弯 which apparantly was liked by a huge number of fans as well. He also sang songs that he had written for his wife, elder daughter and a song in rememberance of some frenz who passed away in 2003. @ the beginning of the concert, he told us that he wanted to sing more songs & he did, his encore was terrificbulous!!! Singing a lot of Canto oldies (like 还是觉得你最好!!!) & finally rounding off w 祝福 @ 1145pm.

Whilst there weren't many young fans as you would see in Jay or Jolin's concert, the fans still waved their light sticks, sang along w Jacky & even stood up to dance when Jacky sang his fast songs. It is truly amazing that after performing for 23 years, his popularity hasn't waned but instead has grown tremendously; 5 concerts in less than 6 months & all were almost sold out!!! Definitely not an easy feat to be accomplished!!! & whilst he was singing the songs, I had e urge to go sing all his songs @ Karaoke haha!!! But for now, I thnk I'll just take out his old records.

So thanks Jacky, for this great start to 2008, for such a soulful performance, for giving me a treasured memory w Dar but most of all, for the wonderful memories that you have brought back =))
